Dr Broadbent is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Virology at the University of Surrey. Her research focuses on respiratory virus-host interactions, with a particular interest in why respiratory viruses contribute to poor long-term lung health. She then undertook postdoctoral research in academia and in collaboration with industry to further her research on RSV. In 2020 Lindsay was award a Wellcome Trust ISSF fellowship but, due to her experience with airway cell models and respiratory viruses, was seconded to work on SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19. As principal investigator Lindsay has collaborations with clinicians, industry and academics from varied disciplines. In addition to her research, Lindsay is Programme Director for Microbiology at the University of Surrey and delivers teaching to undergraduate students. Lindsay is actively involved with science communication and outreach and has been involves with hundreds of media appearances.
