The 4th ISRV Meeting on Correlates of Protection for Next Generation Influenza Vaccines took place from 15 to 17 October 2025, at the Aula of Science in Vienna, bringing together leading international experts to advance the development of broader and longer-lasting influenza vaccines
Hosted in collaboration with the Semmelweis Institute, the three-day meeting was hailed as a major success, combining scientific excellence with Vienna’s rich heritage as a hub of research and innovation.
The event united representatives from public health, academia, industry, regulatory agencies and funding organizations, providing a dynamic platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange. Participants explored the latest insights into immune correlates of protection, mucosal immunity, and state-of-the-art immunological assays, while also addressing the regulatory challenges facing emerging vaccine technologies such as mRNA platforms.
The program featured keynote lectures, oral presentations from submitted abstracts and poster sessions, highlighting advances in transformational vaccine technologies and their potential to accelerate the development of next-generation and universal influenza vaccines.
Organizers praised the strong engagement and quality of discussion throughout the meeting, which was described by delegates as a “unique and inspiring opportunity” to share perspectives and shape the future of influenza vaccine research. The panel discussions and the talks from regulators, which addressed the questions of vaccine trial design and alternative regulatory pathways, were highlighted by many attendees.
