They spread easily through droplets and contact, and include well-known illnesses such as influenza, RSV, and COVID-19. Through research, collaboration, and education, ISRV works to advance global understanding and control of these diseases.
Influenza is a respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses—primarily Influenza A and Influenza B—that lead to seasonal epidemics and, occasionally, pandemics. Infection usually affects the upper respiratory tract, although in severe cases the lower respiratory tract may be involved.
