About the Neglected Viruses SIG
It is envisaged that the Neglected Influenza Viruses Special Interest Group will:
- Promote the exchange of knowledge relating influenza viruses reservoired in non-human and non-avian hosts
- Promote a multidisciplinary “One Health” approach to the investigation of these viruses.
- Facilitate the formation of strategic alliances to enable the pooling of resources, transfer of technology and international exchange programs.
- Engage all stakeholders including the private sector in animal health surveillance and vaccine improvement.
- Address gaps in our knowledge of the behavior and zoonotic potential of influenza viruses.
- Collaborate with OFFLU and other organizations to co-ordinate an animal influenza applied research agenda.
- Organize an international meeting every two to three years.
- Publish selected research findings presented at the meeting in a special issue of the ISRV Journal.
