Federico Martinón-Torres Chair of the 14th International Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Symposium

Widely recognised for his work in advancing RSV immunisation strategies across high-, middle-, and low-income settings, Professor Martinón-Torres has played a pivotal role in shaping prevention efforts at a global level. His leadership is expected to ensure that the 2027 Symposium delivers both scientific depth and meaningful international collaboration.

The four-day meeting will convene leading researchers, clinicians, and public health experts to explore the latest developments in RSV and other respiratory viruses. The program will feature thematic sessions combining keynote presentations with short oral communications selected from submitted abstracts, alongside a formal poster session. A dedicated RSV Mini School on 13 April will provide additional learning opportunities ahead of the main conference, while structured networking time throughout the event will support collaboration across disciplines.

The Symposium will also highlight excellence in the field through prestigious lectures, including the José Antonio Melero Early Career Investigator Award and the Chanock Award.

Professor Martinón-Torres currently serves as Head of Pediatrics and Director of Translational Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Santiago, and is a Full Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
