Developing knowledge, connections and future leaders in respiratory virus science
ISRV is committed to strengthening the global respiratory virus community through accessible, high-quality education and career development.
Our Education Programme brings together scientific learning, professional development, mentoring, networking and leadership opportunities, supporting researchers and professionals at different stages of their careers and helping to build the respiratory virus workforce of the future.
Through our global Schools and Mini-Schools, online learning, scholarships, mentoring and career development initiatives, we connect participants with experts, peers and opportunities from across the international respiratory virus community.
Learn • Connect • Develop • Lead
ISRV Education is about more than attending a course or event.
We want to create opportunities for people to continue learning, build meaningful professional relationships, develop their careers and become active contributors to the global respiratory virus community.
Our growing Education Programme includes:

Learn from leading international experts, explore respiratory virus science across disciplines and build connections with researchers from around the world.
Our residential ISRV Schools provide immersive multi-day learning experiences, while Mini-Schools offer focused programmes alongside major scientific meetings.

Supporting the next generation of respiratory virus researchers and professionals is at the heart of the ISRV Education Programme.
Our growing Early Career Researcher (ECR) community brings together education, networking, mentoring, professional development and opportunities to become more involved in the ISRV community.
Whether you are completing postgraduate training, establishing your research career or taking your next professional step, discover the opportunities available to support your development.

Access respiratory virus education wherever you are.
ISRV is developing a growing collection of digital learning opportunities and educational resources, providing accessible ways to learn from experts across the international respiratory virus community.
Our developing programme will include:

Career development happens through people as well as learning.
ISRV is developing new opportunities to connect researchers and professionals across career stages, creating spaces to seek advice, share experiences, develop skills and build lasting professional relationships.
Initiatives include:
ISRV Mentoring Programme
Structured mentoring connecting ECRs with experienced members of the global respiratory virus community.
Conference Connections
Light-touch mentoring and networking at ISRV meetings, helping ECRs make meaningful connections and get more from their conference experience.
Virtual Coffee Connections
Informal opportunities to virtually meet, connect and exchange experiences with others across the ISRV community.
Women in Leadership Network
A supportive international network helping women working across respiratory virus research and related fields connect, develop their leadership skills and learn from the experiences of others.
Information about our mentoring and career development opportunities will be announced in early 2027. Sign up to receive updates using the link below.

ISRV aims to support scientists and researchers beyond a single event or training opportunity.
The ISRV Education Development Pathway connects opportunities across five stages of professional development:

Discover respiratory virus science, ISRV and the opportunities available across our international community.

Build scientific knowledge and professional skills through Schools, Mini-Schools, online learning and expert-led education.

Develop meaningful relationships with peers, mentors and experts through networking, mentoring and international events.

Build the skills, confidence and experience needed to progress your career.

Contribute your expertise, support others and explore opportunities to become involved in ISRV activities, committees and leadership.
Participants can join the pathway at any stage and engage with the opportunities most relevant to their own career and development.
Respiratory viruses are a global challenge, and opportunities to learn and contribute should be global too.
ISRV is committed to expanding access to high-quality respiratory virus education and creating a diverse and internationally connected community.
Our approach includes:
Our goal is to reduce barriers to participation while strengthening respiratory virus knowledge and capacity around the world.

Cost should not prevent talented researchers and professionals from accessing valuable educational and development opportunities.
ISRV provides scholarships and financial support for selected Schools, Mini-Schools, meetings and educational activities, with particular emphasis on improving access for participants from low- and middle-income countries.
Support may include:
Available support and eligibility criteria vary between activities. Please check each activity for available scholarships and financial support available.

ISRV works with universities, research institutes, scientific societies, conference organisers and other partners around the world to deliver Schools and Mini-Schools.
Hosting an ISRV School provides an opportunity to strengthen regional capacity, connect local researchers with international experts and contribute to the development of the next generation of respiratory virus professionals.

ISRV Education is built around the expertise and participation of our international community.
There are many ways to get involved – whether you want to learn, share your expertise, mentor an ECR, contribute to an educational activity or help us develop future programmes.
You could:

Join ISRV to become part of an international community working to advance the prevention, detection, treatment and control of respiratory virus diseases. Membership provides access to educational opportunities, scientific networks, events and opportunities to contribute to the wider ISRV community.
