The International Respiratory Syncytial Virus Society (iRSVs) is pleased to announce the election of Dr Asuncion Mejias as its President. A renowned paediatric infectious disease specialist, based at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, USA, Dr Mejias brings a wealth of clinical expertise in RSV and champions the improvement of global child health.

She succeeds Professor Peter Openshaw, recognised for his dedication to the global RSV community, who served two terms. Peter said: “I am delighted to be succeeded by Asun, who is a great choice as my successor. Serving for eight years was longer than I expected; let’s hope there isn’t another pandemic and that Asun can focus on building and developing the Society as a Special Interest Group of ISIRV and joining the Board”.
